LOUTH - ON THE TÁIN WAY WITH ANTON SAVAGE
Ravensdale Forest to Omeath, County Louth
THE WALK:
Join broadcaster Anton Savage and presenter Doireann Ní Ghlacáin on a stunning 13km section of the Táin Way, traversing the dramatic Cooley Mountains from Ravensdale Forest to the coastal village of Omeath.
This walk takes you through ancient woodland, past the 5,000 year old Clermont Cairn, and along the historic Cadger's Pad, an old smugglers' route that crosses the mountains with stunning views of Carlingford Lough and the Mourne Mountains.

Return Journey: This is a one-way trail. Plan your return transport from Omeath back to Ravensdale (approximately 15km by road).

The Táin Way is a 40km walking route through the Cooley Peninsula, following the legendary path of Queen Maeve's army in the ancient Irish epic, the Táin Bó Cúailnge (The Cattle Raid of Cooley). This mythic tale is one of Ireland's greatest legends, and walking this route connects you to thousands of years of Irish history and storytelling.
