Leitrim - Mullaghgarve Mass Rock & Cloone

Doireann is joined by former RTÉ News anchor Bryan Dobson, who has had a home on the edge of the Leitrim Way for over 20 years. He leads Doireann along a 3.7km walk to the Mullaghgarve Mass Rock on Sliabh an Iarainn (Iron Mountain). It’s a short but challenging climb with rewarding views and powerful history.

Reflecting on his retirement and love for County Leitrim, Bryan says:
"There!s great character, great courtesy, and the loveliest of people... I wouldn!t be anywhere else.”

They later visit the village of Cloone, where Bryan draws links between the landscape and the novels of John McGahern. While acknowledging the hardship of farming in this region, Doireann adds a warm observa>on:
